Police in Huntington Station had to use a battering ram to break down a garage door at the home on New York Avenue, after a man barricaded himself inside the home for more than five hours.
The standoff started at around 3:40 p.m. Monday afternoon. It ended shortly after 9 p.m when police walked out with a 55-year-old man, who was escorted to a waiting ambulance.
He was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
The man has not been identified. Police say nobody was hurt and no charges have been filed.
