The “Write” Stuff

The “Write” Stuff

This might be an odd question, but when was the last time you wrote something down with a pen or pencil?

Would you believe some of us NEVER do now?

A new poll found 3% of us have not written anything down in over a year.

Not a day goes by where I do not write in my journal, make lists of things I need to do, and draw in my sketchbook. What does anyone expect me to do, actually remember things? That’s not going to happen – the part of my brain that I rely on for that is taken up by movie quotes, song lyrics, and imagining situations that I will never find myself in.

We are living in an increasingly paperless world, but there are powerful benefits to writing things down – writing helps clear your mind, it clarifies your goals and priorities, it keeps you motivated, and enables a higher level of thinking – and therefore – more focused action. If you don’t write things down, your mind spends more time “paper shuffling” and creates its own anxiety. Making time to write down certain things can change the way we live our lives.
