Description

Take a step back into colonial times with a fascinating fact-filled Docent Tour or take a self-guided tour through the house, which is filled with historic artifacts, photos and stories.

The 2024 featured exhibits are “1901 E. Brush Shipwreck” and “Needlecrafts of the Hallocks and Tuthills”. The needlework exhibit on the 2nd floor includes works by Frances Hallock Tuthill and her mother Ina Miller Hallock. The Shipwreck exhibit in the back hall features pieces of the actual schooner that was wrecked on the beach at Hallock Landing Road in 1901. These pieces were saved by John Hardecker in 1979 and given to the museum in 2023.

And you are welcome to walk the grounds and see our newly installed Rain Garden full of native plants provided by ReWild Long Island. Enjoy the view of the Long Island Sound when sitting on one of three large sandstones from the former LIRR Bridge over Hallock Landing Road that have just recently been relocated to the house. Take a short walk up the block to the Hallock Cemetery and view well-preserved tombstones dating back to Revolutionary War times and before.

The house is open to the public every Saturday April to December from 1 to 4pm.
